Using Settings
Earpiece — sets the volume of sound coming
out of the earpiece.
Speaker sets the volume of sound coming
out of the speaker.
•Keypad — sets the volume of sound associated
with pressing keys and buttons.
Java Earpiece — sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out of
the earpiece.
Java Speaker — sets the volume of sound
associated with Java applications coming out of
the speaker.
•Data sets the volume of sounds that notify
you that you are receiving a circuit data call.
Security Features
The Security menu lets you turn security features
on and off and change passwords:
Phone Lockturns on a feature that locks your
phone: Lock Now takes effect immediately;
Auto Lock takes effect when your phone is
powered off and then on. An unlock code is
required to enable this feature, to unlock the
phone, and to set a new unlock code. Contact
Nextel Customer Care for your default unlock
code.
•Keypad Lock — locks the phone’s keypad,
either immediately or automatically after a set
period of inactivity. See “Locking the Keypad” on
page 17 for more information on locking and
unlocking the keypad.
SIM PIN — enables and disables your phone’s
SIM PIN security feature. See “Turning the PIN
Requirement On and Off” on page 14.
GPS PIN enables and disables your phone’s
GPS PIN security feature. See “Setting the GPS
PIN Security Feature” on page 101.
Change Passwords — changes your phone
unlock code, security code, SIM PIN, and GPS
PIN.
Advanced Features
The Advanced menu contains advanced and rarely
used Settings features.
Alert Timeout — controls the amount of time a
tone continues to sound when you receive a
message notification or call alert.
Headset/Spkersets headset option. See
“Using a Headset” on page 116.
